They own tumble dryers, which they use on a daily basis. This in a state that hasn’t seen rain for three years, has sun almost every day and where people complain about the cost of utility bills. Haven’t they heard of the linen line?
They wash the dishes under running water, despite the 3 year drought, seeming to be more concerned about the risk of getting sick as a result of accidentally ingesting an iota of washing up liquid than about running out of water.
I’ve been at my coldest in Californian (and Spanish) houses. They haven’t got the hang of central heating, or of letting the sun shine in!
No matter how small the home there’s always room for a monster fridge (or two!) See comment above re utility bills.
Fruit and vegetables are no cheaper than in England despite being grown on their doorstep. Must be the drought!
