A night at the opera, a bike ride, and a film club

We saw Carmen at the Met on Tuesday. It’s a stunning building and, although we were up in the gods, a fantastic experience.

Today we had a day off from tiling the ceiling, and from trekking into Manhattan on the subway, which is a bit of a drag, and cycled around Queens and Flushing, which is not really very exciting or attractive, but allowed us to get our bearings before going further afield.

We had a fascinating evening in the company of film lecturer, Keith, and five others watching Carnival of Souls in Keith’s basement cinema. Interesting discussion afterwards. It was great to be invited to another house and the group were really friendly and welcoming (if a little loud).
